Linda Sievers

Jerseyville |

Linda Marie Sievers, 68, passed away at 7:33 a.m., Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Hawthorne Inn in Jerseyville, where she had resided for the past year and a half.

She was born on May 20, 1955 in Carrollton, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Dorothy JoAnn (Baumann) Johnson.

Linda grew up in Greene County, Illinois, and at the age of 16, married Ralph Eugene Sievers on July 3, 1971 at. St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton. Shortly thereafter, they welcomed their first child, and Linda finished out her formal education and graduated with the Class of 1973 from Jersey Community High School.

Linda was employed as an Adjustor with the Olin Corporation for 15 years, and from 1997 until 2018, worked alongside Ralph as owner/operators of A-OK Rentals in Jerseyville.

Throughout their nearly 50 years of marriage, Linda and Ralph were blessed with many wonderful memories together with their children and grandchildren.

Linda enjoyed a good card game, although it was more likely the social aspect and gathering with her friends, that she truly enjoyed the most. She also enjoyed traveling, and always looked forward to the opportunity to do so.

She enjoyed dining with her family and friends, and anyone who knew Linda could attest to her love of shopping. If the phrase “shop till you drop” wasn’t coined by Linda’s shopping habits, then she surely took the saying to heart and did just that!

Perhaps the greatest joys in her life came from time spent with her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their sporting events, as well as those of her great nieces and nephews.

Surviving are two children and their spouses, Anna and Nick Thuer of Grafton and Ralph J. and Anne Sievers of Evansville; four grandchildren, Trent Thuer, Alexander Sievers, Grant Thuer and Hannah Sievers; a brother in-law, David Dixon of Carrollton; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Lawrence “Larry” and Virginia Sievers and Lynn and Carolyn Sievers, all of Jerseyville; along with a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on February 19, 2021; a sister, Peggy Dixon; father in-law and mother in-law, Lawrence Anthony and Margaret Cecelia (Roentz) Sievers; as well as a sister in-law, Margie Sievers.

Memorial Visitation will be on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville. Father Martin Smith will officiate.

Interment will follow at St. Norbert’s Cemetery in Hardin.

Memorials may be given to Calhoun County Ambulance Association, in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052, who has been entrusted with arrangements.
