
GRANITE CITY — The Illinois State Police are assisting in the search for 26-year-old DJ Marshall of Granite City, who is suspected of shooting a Granite City Police officer on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025.

At approximately 2:19 p.m. Friday, officers from the Granite City Police Department responded to a call in the 2000 block of Johnson Road. Upon arrival, officers encountered Marshall, who reportedly pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots, striking one officer before fleeing on foot.
The injured officer was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.
The Illinois State Police, working alongside the Granite City Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, local law enforcement agencies, and the FBI, are conducting an ongoing search for Marshall. The search efforts include the use of K9 units and an aircraft.
Authorities have labeled Marshall as "armed and dangerous" and advise the public not to approach him. Anyone who sees Marshall is urged to call 911 immediately. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
