St. Louis Man Fatally Shot After Vehicle Collision

ST. LOUIS — A 26-year-old man was fatally shot just before 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Wells Goodfellow neighborhood after two vehicles were involved in a crash and an argument over payment followed, police said.

District 5 officers and ATF agents were conducting enforcement related to the ATF Surge initiative when they heard a nearby crash. Almost immediately afterward, they heard gunfire and responded to Goodfellow and Natural Bridge.

When officers and agents arrived in the 3500 block of Goodfellow, they found two vehicles that appeared to have been in an accident and the 26-year-old man on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. He was not conscious and was not breathing, police said.

Officers found a 23-year-old suspect who remained at the scene and immediately detained him. Homicide detectives were requested and took over the investigation.

The Circuit Attorney's Office elected to issue charges against 23-year-old Italo Wade of St. Louis for Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.

A preliminary investigation suggests the suspect and victim were in separate vehicles when they were involved in an accident with each other. During an argument about payment, the suspect retrieved a firearm and fired multiple times at the victim, fatally wounding him, police said.
