ALTON – A 26-year-old from Alton faces a felony after allegedly shooting a teenager at the Godfrey McDonald’s with a water gel gun.
Darion L. Patrick, 26, of Alton, was charged on Sept. 1, 2026 with a Class 3 felony count of aggravated battery.

Patrick allegedly shot at a 16-year-old victim using an Orbeez gun, striking the victim about the body with a water gel ball projectile on July 22, 2026.
Charging documents state the incident occurred in a public place, the McDonald’s at 5511 Godfrey Road in Godfrey.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office presented the case against Patrick, who was ordered released from custody pending trial.
Another Alton man was charged with a weapon-related felony in a separate case filed on the same day.
67-year-old Franklin Fleming was charged on Sept. 1, 2026 with one count of felon in possession of a weapon, a Class 3 felony.
Fleming is accused of possessing 9mm ammunition on June 1, 2026 after previously being convicted of felony burglary in Milwaukee, Wis.
Fleming was also ordered released from custody pending trial in the case presented by the Alton Police Department.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
