Bethalto Man Charged With Using Bad Check At Jerseyville Meat Market

JERSEYVILLE – A Bethalto resident accused of trying to steal from a Jerseyville business using a bad check is one of two people charged in recent Jersey County cases.

Kinnarkumar C. Patel, 43, of Bethalto, was charged on Sept. 11, 2026 with a Class 4 felony count of deceptive practice.

On June 3, 2026, Patel allegedly delivered a bank check to Fritz Meat & Processing in the amount of $3,126.47, intending to obtain U.S. currency from the store while knowing the check would not be paid by the depository, Home Bank.

Patel was issued a summons to appear in Jersey County Court on Oct. 13, 2026.

A Jerseyville man faces drug possession charges in a separate case filed on Sept. 9, 2026.

42-year-old Joseph. E. Moore was charged with one count each of unlawful possession of methamphetamine (a Class 3 felony) and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (a Class 4 felony).

Moore was reportedly in illegal possession of less than 15 grams of heroin and less than five grams of methamphetamine on Sept. 8, 2026.

Under a Release Order filed in this case, Moore is subject to certain conditions of pretrial release. He has been ordered not to leave the State of Illinois without court permission and is set to appear at the Jersey County Courthouse on Sept. 22, 2026.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
