Jerseyville Man Charged With Burglaries And Thefts From Boats And Trailers
JERSEYVILLE – A Jerseyville resident faces 11 criminal charges after stealing a wide variety of fishing equipment and several other items from boats and trailers on opposite ends of the city.
Jeffrey D. Flynn, 74, of Jerseyville, faces seven counts of theft, including three Class 3 felonies and four Class A misdemeanors, as well as four counts of burglary, each Class 2 felonies.

The charges against Flynn were filed Sept. 17, 2026 in Jersey County court and stem from an alleged series of burglaries and thefts spanning the American Legion Fairgrounds and Graham’s Public Storage facility.
The first incident described in charging documents occurred on July 9, 2026, when Flynn is accused of knowingly stealing a chainsaw, tree climbers, wagon rope and a gas can from another individual. Charging documents state the stolen items had a combined value of over $500.
Flynn then allegedly entered a boat located at the American Legion Fairgrounds on Sept. 1, 2026 without authority and stole a spare tire and fish finder which were property of a second victim and worth under $500.
On the same date, Flynn reportedly entered a third victim’s boat at the same location and stole over $500 worth of the victim’s property, including a depth finder, three fishing poles, a filled tackle box, a spare tire and two electric filet knives.
Also on Sept. 1, Flynn is accused of entering a fourth victim’s trailer, also located at the American Legion Fairgrounds, and stealing an impact wrench and trailer hand crank worth less than $500.
On Sept. 11, 2026, Flynn allegedly entered a fifth victim’s trailer which was located at Graham’s Public Storage in Jerseyville. Charging documents state he stole over $500 worth of items from the trailer, including four battery chargers, a boat motor impeller, a telescoping ladder and two boat seats.
Flynn also reportedly stole a spare tire and spare RV tire from two different individuals on Sept. 11, 2026.
Since Flynn was not charged with a detention-eligible offense, he was ordered released pending trial, but is subject to certain pretrial release conditions.
Under the conditions of his release, Flynn has been ordered to refrain from entering the premises of the American Legion Fairgrounds and Graham’s Public Storage. He has also been ordered not to leave the State of Illinois without court permission.
Flynn is scheduled to appear at the Jersey County Courthouse for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 14, 2026.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
