Pirtle is accused of committing assault with a deadly weapon by pointing a firearm at another individual during an argument on Sept. 22, 2026. Charging documents state the weapon was uncased, loaded and immediately accessible at the time of the offense.
Pirtle’s possession of the weapon was unlawful as a felon previously convicted in 2025 of aggravated fleeing in Madison County. He also had not been issued a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petiton to deny Pirtle’s pretrial release, noting he “is a convicted felon with a history of flight.”
The petition states Pirtle was identified as the suspect accused of pointing a firearm at the victim during an argument. Officers later located him nearby, still in possession of the firearm, according to the petition.
The latest case against Pirtle was presented by the Alton Police Department, and he currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
