Carlinville, Marquette Set To Play Friday Night, Collinsville, Edwardsville Go On Saturday As IHSA Announced Opening Round Football Playoff Dates
BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL - Carlinville in Class 2A and Marquette Catholic in Class 4A will play on Friday night, while Class 7A schools Collinsville and Edwardsville are set to play on Saturday as the football officials of the IHSA announced the dates and times for all the opening round playoff games this coming weekend on Friday afternoon at the IHSA offices.

The opening round winners will play the top-seeded teams in their classes in the first round games on Halloween weekend, Oct. 30-31.
Here are the dates and times for the local teams who will play in the opening round this weekend:
CLASS 1A
Carrollton, who was seeded 16th in Class 1A, hosts 17th seeded Athens Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., while 23rd seed Dupo plays at 10th seed Villa Grove on Saturday at 2 p.m., and 14th seeded Carlyle plays at home against number 19 seed Nokomis Saturday at 1 p.m.
CLASS 2A
Carlinville, who were seeded at number 16, plays at home against number 17 Riverton Friday night at 7 p.m., while Trenton Wesclin, the 24th seed, goes to ninth-seeded Chester Friday night at 7 p.m., and 18th seed Piasa Southwestern plays at number 15 seed Decatur St. Teresa Catholic Friday night at 7 p.m.
CLASS 3A
Roxana, who was seeded at 16, plays host to 17th seed Metropolis Massac County Saturday at 2 p.m., while 24th seed Columbia is at ninth-seeded Stanford Olympia Friday night at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, 20th seeded Breese Mater Dei Catholic travels to 13th seeded Sparta for their game Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., and 15th seeded Belleville Althoff Catholic plays at George Martz Field in a home game against 18th seeded Harrisburg Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.. and 22nd seed Staunton is at number 11 Fairfield Saturday afternoon in a 2 p.m. kickoff at 2 p.m.
CLASS 4A
Civic Memorial, who is the 16th seed, plays at home at Hauser Field on Friday night at 7 p.m. against 17th seeded Quincy Notre Dame Catholic in a 7 p.m. kickoff, while 20th-seeded Jersey is at 13th seeded Peoria Notre Dame Catholic Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.. the Explorers, who copped the number 21 seed, plays at 12th seeded Metamora Friday night at 7 p.m.. 10th seed Highland will play host to 22nd seed Lincoln Friday night at 7 p.m., 19th seed Waterloo goes to 14th seed Taylorville Friday at 7 p.m., and Cahokia, who picked up the 11th seed, host 22nd seeded East Peoria Friday night at Brien Field in a 7 p.m. kickoff.
CLASS 5A
In the area's only Class 5A game, 12th seeded Mascoutah will play at Alumni Field at home against 21st seed Washington Friday night at 7 p.m.
CLASS 7A
While there were no Class 6A teams who are in this year's playoff field, in Class 7A, 32nd seed Edwardsville will play host to 33rd seed Chicago Lincoln Park at Tiger Stadium Saturday evening at 5 p.m., while 45th seed Collinsville plays at 20th seed Chicago St. Patrick Friday evening at 6 p.m., and Belleville East, the 26th seed, hosts 39th seed Burbank St. Laurence Catholic Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
CLASS 8A
O'Fallon, the area's only Class 8A team, was seeded number 27 and will play at home at OTHS Panther Stadium Saturday afternoon against 38th seed Joliet West in a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
The winners advance to the first round against teams that received byes for being the top seeds in the various classes, and the dates and times for those games will be announced by the IHSA office next Monday.
