Two Killed in Halloween Night SUV Rollover

CAHOKIA — Two people died after a white SUV lost control and rolled over multiple times into a ditch along northbound Interstate 255 in Cahokia on Halloween night on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, according to Illinois State Police.

Troopers from ISP Troop 8 responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash at about 7:10 p.m. Saturday near milepost 11 in St. Clair County.

A preliminary investigation indicated the SUV rolled into the right ditch.

ISP said the driver and passenger were fatally injured and pronounced dead. Police did not provide information on what caused the driver to lose control.

The two left lanes reopened at 8:22 p.m. Saturday.
