Andreas, who has been visiting polling places, said she thought some voters tried to get ahead of the damp weather by voting in the morning.
“It looks steady everywhere I been,” she said.
The Election Day activity follows strong early voting. Andreas said early voting had broken records and that, as of about 1 p.m. the previous day, more than 12% of the county’s voting population had voted early. That figure did not include mail ballots, she said.
Andreas said counting and closing procedures will begin after polls close at 7 p.m. Election judges must count ballots, run tabulator tapes and complete other closing tasks, a process that can take up to an hour with experienced judges.
The first results released will include early voting and mail ballots, followed by precinct results as they arrive, Andreas said.
