Selling an authentic, vintage railroad crossing signal light manufactured by the Transport Products Corporation (TPC) out of Louisville, Kentucky.
This is a heavy-duty piece of authentic railroad history featuring a large amber glass lens, the original metal sun visor/hood, and the circular black backing target plate. The casting on the front housing clearly reads: "Transport Products Corporation Louisville KY". Perfect for train enthusiasts, railroad memorabilia collectors, or as a unique restoration project for a man-cave, garage, or garden railroad display.
Rear Housing & Hardware Details:
Material: Heavy-duty Cast Aluminum (much lighter and easier to wall-mount than heavy cast iron versions, with zero rust issues).
Markings: Stamped/cast with number 4140 on the rear dome.
Peep Sight: Includes a rear-facing maintainer's inspection peep sight marked with part number 4177.
Mounting Brackets: Features original heavy top and bottom structural mounting brackets for easy installation on a wall or post.
Condition & Wiring Notes (Please Read):
Cosmetic: Great vintage condition with a beautiful, authentic patina. The amber glass lens is intact but has 2 imperfections. Minor surface wear and dust consistent with age and actual trackside use. There is one screw missing from sunvisor/hood fixings.
Electrical: The external wiring has been cut and has bare ends with no plug. It is not wired for standard household 110V/120V electricity. This unit originally ran on low-voltage (typically 10V–12V DC) industrial power. It will need to be rewired or converted to an LED/household lamp socket if you want to illuminate it at home.
Hinge Note: One of the cast aluminum hinge eyelets/tabs on the lower main housing is broken off (the hinge pin is currently only secured by the top bracket). The rear door still sits entirely flush and secure when closed.
