ROXANA — St. Joe-Ogden defeated Roxana 42-32 Saturday afternoon, Nov. 8, 2025, in a second-round rematch, reversing the outcome from two years ago when Roxana edged St. Joe-Ogden 48-47.

The game began with a strong start from Roxana as quarterback Cohen Dugan connected with Sean Maberry on a 17-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful two-point conversion to make it 8-0. St. Joe-Ogden responded quickly, with Tim Blackburn-Kelly scoring on a 4-yard run, narrowing the score to 8-7 after the first quarter.
Roxana extended their lead in the second quarter with back-to-back touchdowns. Dugan threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Stemm, and later Mason Crump ran 4 yards for a touchdown, putting Roxana ahead 20-7.
However, the Spartans rallied before halftime with touchdowns from Wyatt Wertz on an 8-yard run and Brayden Weller on a 4-yard reception, giving St. Joe-Ogden a 21-20 lead at the break.
“St. Joe Ogden is really good on offense; they are well coached. I thought our kids fought through adversity today and handled themselves well,” Roxana coach Wade DeVries said.
The third quarter was dominated by defense from both teams until St. Joe-Ogden’s Kodey McKinney scored on a 5-yard run with 52 seconds remaining, increasing the Spartans’ lead to 28-20.
In the fourth quarter, both teams exchanged touchdowns twice. Mekhi Shorter ran 8 yards for a Roxana touchdown, cutting the deficit to 28-26. Dugan then threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Carriker, giving Roxana a 32-28 lead.
St. Joe-Ogden closed out the game with two late touchdowns: a 21-yard pass to Kaden Wedig and a 4-yard rushing touchdown by McKinney, sealing the 42-32 victory.
