PEORIA — Southwestern junior Thor Springman set a new school record at the IHSA Class 1A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, finishing 79th overall with a time of 15 minutes, 50 seconds. The meet took place in Peoria.
Springman’s performance capped an impressive season for the Piasa Birds’ standout runner, who also earned all-conference honors in cross country.
Earlier in the season, he placed 10th at the Trenton-Wesclin Sectional on Nov. 1, 2025, with a time of 15:50.8, and finished fourth at the IHSA 1A Regional in Trenton, clocking 16:03.0.
In recognition of his achievements, Springman was named the Altonized Community Federal Credit Union Male Athlete of the Month for the Piasa Birds.
Throughout the season, Springman secured victories at several invitationals, including the Toby Elledge Invite on Sept. 23 with a time of 17:24.9, as well as the East Alton Wood River Invite, the North Mac Invite, and the Dick Tucker Cross Country Invite.
He also earned second-place finishes at the SCC Conference Meet, the Carlinville Invite, and the Coal Mine Classic.
Overall, it was an outstanding season for this Southwestern junior.
