Phillips, who has been part of the Walmart family for about a year, will compete on Nov. 14, 2025, after departing for the games. A former standout wrestler at Alton High School and also in Illinois state competition, she earned her place at the Deaflympics by winning the U.S. Trials in Minnesota last summer.
“It’s an honor and an amazing opportunity,” Phillips said. “It means a lot to represent my country — and this supportive community.”
Her store coach, Trudi Kelley, praised her work ethic and attitude. “Antonia is a very productive associate — she’s always smiling, willing to help anywhere she’s needed, and has excellent attendance.”
Phillips has been wrestling for more than 11 years and said she joined Walmart because it offered “a great opportunity to learn new skills in a positive, supportive environment.”
Walmart expressed pride in Antonia, as evidenced by the wonderful send-off event that took place at the Godfrey Walmart Supercenter on Sunday, Nov. 9.
