She qualified for the finals on Friday by placing third in both events during the preliminaries, recording times of 50.12 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle and 1:48.54 in the 200-yard freestyle.
At the sectional meet in Edwardsville the previous weekend, Albertyn discussed her approach to the season, emphasizing improvements in technique and race strategy. “I think I swam, honestly, better than I did last year,” she said. “Last year, I was just going and swimming, but this year, I feel like I’m more focused on making sure that I’m racing, and properly, just swimming, making sure my stroke is good.”
Known for her versatility in the pool, Albertyn excels not only in freestyle events but also in backstroke.
After her historic swimming career at O’Fallon High School, she plans to continue competing while pursuing her academic and swimming goals at Arizona State University starting in fall 2026.
