“This year, we’re excited to introduce expanded initiatives to support seniors, individuals in need, and now, local college students who may be facing food insecurity during the holiday season,” said Jason Harrison, co-owner of LaMay’s Catering.

The free event begins at 5 p.m. in The Commons and is open to anyone in need. Guests can enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal on-site or take a plate to go. Seating for 350 will be available until 7:30 p.m.

Volunteers will deliver meals to seniors who pre-order, and students are invited to join the feast.

“This is about more than food,” said Shenika Stovall of Monte World. “It’s about creating a sense of belonging for those who might otherwise spend the holiday alone.”

The menu features smoked turkey, dressing, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, green beans and other holiday favorites. Live music and words of gratitude will accompany the dinner.

The tradition began 10 years ago when Stovall started giving away turkeys and meal boxes in memory of her late son. At the same time, LaMay’s Catering was smoking turkeys for families in need. Deliverance Temple later united the efforts into one community event.

This year’s dinner is supported by local businesses and organizations, including Gianaris Trial Lawyers, Simmons Hanly Conroy, Monte Family Foundation, Wilson Tree Service, Lewis and Clark Community College, and others.

Donations are still being accepted via Cash App ($TempleDTC), Zelle (dtccogic@gmail.com) or by check payable to Deliverance Temple with “Thanksgiving Giveaway” in the memo line.
