Marburger explained that jiu-jitsu has played a major role in his life, and he is eager to share that experience with others. He added that the academy is open to people of all ages and skill levels. It’s important to the Alton Elite team to be a welcoming, inclusive space for all.

“We have an incredible community that supports one another,” he said. “Jiu-jitsu is the vehicle that allows us as individuals to be better contributors. Jiu-jitsu transforms lives and sometimes saves lives, on some level.”

He expressed his pride to open the academy in his hometown of Alton. While the journey to Alton Elite was not linear, Marburger emphasized his excitement to share the experience with the community.

“This has been a journey. This last 120 days has been very, very difficult. There’s been challenge after challenge,” he added. “But as a team, we got through the challenge, and now we have an incredible product and we get to show this product off to the community. We’re proud of that.”
