Council members on Monday quickly and unanimously approved a series of three requests from the Wood River Business Alliance – two regarding the Holiday Tradition Night Market and another concerning the city's inaugural Santa Parade.
The organization requested the closure of Ferguson Avenue between First and Second Street from 3 to 7 p.m. on the night of the holiday market on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, as well as the use of 101 E. Ferguson from 2 to 7 p.m. on the same day for the same event. Both requests were approved unanimously.
Kristen Burns with the Wood River Business Alliance wrote in an email to city officials that the Night Market itself will run from 4 to 7 p.m., with vendor access opening at 2 p.m. to allow for setup time. She said the requested road closure is intended “to ensure the safety of patrons attending the Holiday Tradition Night Market.”
Also approved was another request from the Business Alliance to close Ferguson Avenue between Wood River Avenue and First Street on Nov. 28, 2025 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to facilitate the Santa Parade. Burns wrote to city officials that the parade will begin at 3:45 p.m., starting at Wood River Avenue and concluding at 101 E. Ferguson by 4:15 p.m.
