O'FALLON - Junior Kennedy Gieseking hit a three from mid-court at the final buzzer to give Edwardsville a 56-53 win over Dunlap in the O'Fallon girls shootout Saturday afternoon, Nov. 22, 2025, at O'Fallon's OTHS Panther Dome.

Kennedy Gieseking.Two nights earlier, the Tigers lost at Pleasant Plains 52-36 after being unable to overcome a slow start in the second half, with the Cardinals outscoring Edwardsville 33-15 in the final 16 minutes, after the Tigers had led 21-19 at the interval.

On Saturday, the Tigers led late when Dunlap hit a basket with 3.4 seconds left in regulation, setting up Gieseking's heroics to raise the Tigers' record to 2-1 after the season's opening week.

Gieseking led the Tigers with 17 points on Saturday, with her three at the siren the difference in the game. Kaylee Hauschild added 13 points for Edwardsville, while Gabby Cook hit for 10 points, Journey Anderson had eight points, both Ella Hawkes and Kenley Wise scored six points each, and Madelyn Madison had two points.

In Thursday's loss at Pleasant Plains, the Tigers led after the first quarter 13-9, then 21-19 at the half, but the Cardinals took a 32-30 lead at three-quarter time, then outscored Edwardsville in the final quarter 20-6 to deal the Tigers their first loss of the season.

Hauschild led the way for Edwardsville with 10 points, while Gieseking added eight points, Mia Semeth had six points, Cook scored five points, Anderson had four points, Wise hit for three points, and Genny Burroughs scored two points.

The Eagles are now 1-2, the Cardinals go to 2-0, and the Tigers are 2-1, and play their home opener Wednesday against Breese Mater Dei Catholic in a Thanksgiving Eve special at 4:30 p.m., then host Granite City Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m., then open the Southwestern Conference season at East St. Louis Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
