
BETHALTO - Corbin Barnard shot a 706 series, while Logan Sherman added a three-game set of 637 for Marquette Catholic, but Civic Memorial's boys bowling team were the dominant team in taking a 36-4 win over the Explorers in a dual bowling meet held Thursday at Airport Bowl in Bethalto.

The Eagles were led by Kale McMichael, who shot a 690 series with a high game of the day at 265, while Hunter Kremke had a three-game series of 637, having a high game of 233, Jude Breyer shot a 635 series, with a high game of 224, Jayden Minner had a 605 series, along with a high game of 210 twice, and Austin Nichols had a 559 series, with a high game of 213/
Barnard's 706 series included a high game of 262, while Sherman's 637 set had a high game of 228. Gavin Tinsley rolled a three-game set of 468, including his high game of 163, while Landon Weirich threw a 429 series, with a high game of 166, and David Haegle shot a 290 series, with a high game of 108.
Both teams will be aiming for the state tournament series, which begins on Jan. 17, 2026 with the regionals, the sectional will be held on Jan. 24, and the state tournament will be played Jan. 30-31 at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights. It's the only IHSA state finals held in the St. Louis area, and in southern Illinois. The regional will be held at Bowl Haven Lanes in Alton, with the sectional site to be announced at a later date.

MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 34, BELLEVILLE ALTHOFF CATHOLIC 6: Logan Sherman threw a 691 series, with a high game of 273, and Corbin Barnard had a 682 set, with a high game of 280, to help Marquette win a dual meet over Althoff in the season opener.
Callum McCoy led the Crusaders with a 504 series, with a high game of 187, and Jacob Hug tossed a 467 series, with a high game of 186.
