GODFREY — Freer Auto Body will host its annual Cookies and Cocoa for Community Christmas event from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, at 4512 N. Alby in Godfrey. The roads and highways around the Godfrey area have dramatically improved since the snowstorm on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025.
Margaret Freer, one of the organizers of this event and one of the owners of Freer Auto Body, said this year's Cookies and Cocoa for Community Christmas is especially important.
The event aims to support local families in need by collecting cash donations, toys, and coats.
Freer said the Community Christmas campaign is moving a little slower this year and urged the community to respond, noting a significant number of families require assistance.
“There’s a lot of needy families out there,” she said.
The event will feature the Freer's delicious cookies and cocoa, with a visit from Santa Claus.
Freer emphasized the importance of donations, particularly coats, toys, blankets, and personal care items, and highlighted the need to focus on teenagers as well.
“We absolutely can’t forget teenagers,” she said. “Everyone needs something.”
Community members are encouraged to donate cash or items to help meet the campaign’s goals.
