GRAFTON - On a chilly Friday evening, Nov. 28, 2025, families gathered in The Grove Memorial Park in Grafton to celebrate the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, welcoming the holiday season with festive cheer and community spirit.
Despite the cold, attendees enjoyed hot chocolate and s’mores provided by the Grafton Pub, warming themselves around a fire as Nickie Brooks performed Christmas songs that set a joyful tone. Children eagerly awaited the moment when the large Christmas tree was illuminated, prompting “Oohs,” “Ahhs,” and cheers as the lights sparkled to life.

City employees and the Department of Public Works, led by Jake Weber, worked in advance to set up the giant tree and prepare the park for the event. The celebration focused on creating memorable experiences for children, with many leaving with chocolate-covered smiles and sticky fingers.
Mayor Morrow expressed gratitude to those involved in organizing the event. “Thank you to all whose efforts made this event a shining success. Please be safe in your travels. Whether you call Grafton ‘home’ or you’re passing through on a visit, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas from this ‘real American river town,’” Morrow said.
The event brought together friends and neighbors, young and old alike, marking the start of the Christmas season in Grafton.
