GODFREY - As the Alton and Godfrey communities prepare to celebrate the holidays, one North Alton-Godfrey Business Council member is reflecting on the year.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, NAGBC hosted their annual Breakfast With Santa event to bring families together for a meal with Santa Claus. Gerard Fischer, a Village of Godfrey trustee and member of NAGBC, expressed his excitement to be a part of the event.

“It’s great to see the community come together,” he said. “What a great turnout this morning. Lots of people here. Every table is full.”

Fischer shared that he has been attending the Breakfast With Santa events since he was a child. He is proud to continue the tradition as a supporter now.

As a trustee for the village, Fischer is pleased with the work they are doing to uplift business owners and community members. He noted that the Board of Trustees is looking ahead to 2026 and planning for another great year in Godfrey.

“The Village of Godfrey is looking good,” he said. “We really don’t have that much on the agenda, just some things that we’re looking for in the future. But other than that, it’s looking good.”

Fischer is also happy to be a part of NAGBC. He thanked President Zeke Jabusch for his work to support the community and highlighted Jabusch’s efforts to bring business and community leaders together. Fischer encourages all business owners to attend NAGBC meetings.

“It’s amazing to see 50, 60, sometimes 70 business partners in the Riverbend area come together,” he said. “Zeke has great speakers who talk. It’s very informational as they talk about what’s going on in the area…It is amazing.”
