MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 44, ALTHOFF CATHOLIC 32: Marquette Catholic rallied from an 18-7 first-quarter deficit to tie O'Fallon 30-30 at halftime, then outscored the Panthers in the second half 34-27 to take the win at the Marquette Family Arena.

Laila Davis had 19 points for Marquette, Allie Weiner had seven points, while Jami Jones and Delaney Ortman added six points apiece. Caylee Rhoades had two points and Chayse Strickland had one point.

MASCOUTAH 55, JERSEY 50

The Jersey Community High School JV and varsity girls basketball teams hosted the Mascoutah Indians. The JV Panthers earned a strong 38-16 victory, while the varsity team battled hard but came up just short in a 50–55 loss.

Meredith Gray led the varsity Panthers with an impressive 23 points.

Neely Goetten collected 10 points, while Makenna Brunaugh had seven points and Chloe Beemer four points.

GREENFIELD-NORTHWESTERN 37, CARLINVILLE 33: Greenfield held a 15-10 lead after the first quarter, Carlinville rallied to take a 30-28 lead after three quarters, but the Tigers outscored the Cavaliers 9-3 to take the close win at the Carlinville Big House.

Larcou led Greenfield with 15 points, while K. Weller added nine points. Kaitlyn Reels led Carlinville with 12 points, while Ruthie Reels came up with seven points.

The Tigers are now 3-3, while the Cavies go to 1-6.

In other games played on Monday, Staunton defeated Waterloo Gibault Catholic 46-38, Marissa-Coulterville won over Metro-East Lutheran 57-20, Carlyle won at Chester 60-31, Granite City won at home over East Alton-Wood River 62-43, Civic Memorial went to 8-0 with a 72-18 win over East St. Louis, and Effingham won at home over Highland 55-43.

BOYS BASKETBALL

MASCOUTAH 73, CAHOKIA 63: Mascoutah held the lead for most of the way in taking the decision over visiting Cahokia.

Brayden Watson led the Indians with 27 points, while Micah Griffo scored 21 points, and Camron Lowery hit for 12 points.

Mascoutah is now 3-2, while the Comanches go to 2-5.

In the only other game played on Monday, Granite City went to 5-2 with a 68-40 win at St. Louis Priory Catholic.

OTHER JERSEY SPORTS NEWS

JCHS Girls and Boys Bowling teams traveled to Mascoutah. The Varsity Girls fell 2132–2501, with Meyere Maynard leading the way with a high game of 189 and a high series of 517. The JV Girls were also defeated, 1265–1364.

On the boys’ side, the Varsity Boys lost 2392–2938, highlighted by a high series of 554 from Aaron Hughes and a high game of 197 from Jacob Hetzel. The JV Boys came up short as well, 1500–1966, with Wyatt Wagonblast rolling their high game of 189.

JCMS Boys 7th and 8th-grade basketball teams traveled to Lincoln Middle School. The 7th-grade Panthers fell 58-22, while the 8th-grade team came up short with a 36-20 loss.

JCMS wrestling hosted its first meet of the season against Litchfield and came away with an impressive 71–26 victory.

Standout performances were delivered by Brody Olano, Caleb Olano, Brody White, Max Hale, Charlotte Hinkson, Elijah Carter, Wade Ball, Carter Scott, Grayson Managara, and Bennett Leslie.
