ALTON - Allie Weiner, a senior at Marquette Catholic High School, has been recognized for her achievements in basketball, highlighting a successful high school sports career marked by leadership and dedication.
Weiner, who has played basketball since kindergarten, credits her early love for the sport to shooting hoops with her older brother. Over the years, she has developed into a key player for Marquette Catholic, earning several honors, including a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Carrollton Lady Hawk Invitational Tournament, the team MVP Award at the Gallatin Players of the Year Banquet, and a selection to the Gateway Metro All-Conference First Team. She has also been named Co-MVP and Rookie of the Year for her high school team.

Her coach, Whitney Skyes-Rodgers, has played a significant role in her development, along with the support of her family. Weiner expressed gratitude for her parents and siblings, noting her father’s coaching since third grade, her mother’s encouragement, and her siblings’ commitment to attending her games despite living hours away. She also acknowledged the influence of her coaches and teammates in shaping her both on and off the court.
Beyond basketball, Weiner is a multi-sport athlete, participating as a middle hitter in volleyball, an infielder in softball, and planning to compete in track and field as a thrower. Academically, she maintains a 4.08 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, balancing her athletic commitments with strong classroom performance.
Weiner describes basketball as a team sport where success depends on collective effort, a philosophy that has helped her learn valuable life lessons, such as leadership. She emphasized the family-like atmosphere created by the team’s upperclassmen leadership, which has united players from all four grade levels.
Looking ahead, Weiner is undecided about continuing basketball in college but remains focused on her current season and excited about future opportunities. She is considering a career related to sports, with an interest in sports physical therapy.
Outside of athletics, Weiner enjoys competition in various sports-related activities and has a passion for travel and adventure. She recounted catching a five-foot shark while fishing and shared experiences from trips to Peru and four other countries.
Weiner’s blend of athletic talent, academic achievement, and personal interests reflects a well-rounded high school experience as she prepares for the next chapter of her life.
