CALHOUN/BRUSSELS 50, NORTH GREENE 33
Anna Eberlin, Bralyn Lammy, and Sadie Kiel led Calhoun-Brussels to a 50-33 triumph over North Greene on Monday night. Eberlin and Lammy tallied 14 points, and Kiel had 12 points.
Forrester had nine points for North Greene, L. Bushnell and Sharrow had seven points each.
Calhoun jumped to a 14-10 lead after the first quarter and 30-18 at halftime. Calhoun outscored North Greene 16-11; both teams scored four points in the final quarter for the 50-33 end score.
MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 57, MARYVILLE CHRISTIAN 26: Marquette broke open a close game in the second half, outscoring Maryville 31-3, shutting out the Lions in the final quarter 14-0, to take the Gateway Metro Conference game at Marquette Family Arena.
Laila Davis led the Explorers with 12 points, while Jami Jones scored 11 points, and Chayse Strickland scored 10 points.
Marquette is now 6-2, while Maryville is now 1-4.
GRANITE CITY 62, RIVERVIEW GARDENS 16: On the opening day of the Waterloo Gibault Catholic Candy Cane Classic, Granite City, playing in its first of back-to-back Holiday tournaments, had little trouble in seeing off Riverview Gardens.
Jailynn Rae Woods had a big game for the Warriors, scoring 28 points, while Tyhlee Simms added 12 points.
Granite is now 6-2, while the Rams go to 2-3.
FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 78, METRO-EAST LUTHERAN 14: McGivney built up a 42-10 halftime lead and went on to take the GMC win over Metro-East at Hooks Gym.
Zoe Oller led the Griffins with 16 points, while Alexa Jones scored 14 points, and Elle Willenborg hit for 11 points.
McGivney is now 8-2, while the Knights go to 0-5.
In other games played on Monday, in the first game of the Candy Cane Classic, Columbia defeated New Athens 56-28, Marissa-Coulterville won over Sesser-Valier 48-45, Carlyle defeated Centralia 49-42, Highland won over Breese Mater Dei Catholic 62-52, Alton won over Civic Memorial 52-42, and Sparta defeated Dupo 43-15.
BOYS BASKETBALL
In the only boys game played on Monday night, Edwardsville defeated Riverview Gardens of north St. Louis County 92-41.
