Located on the school’s campus, McGivney Commons is designed to serve as a hub for fellowship, friendship, and faith growth among students, faculty, and supporters. The 9,500-square-foot facility will be open when students return to school in early January. The new commons is expected to host weekly all-school Masses, theatrical productions, concerts, meetings, and other events. School officials say it has a seating capacity for up to 500 people.
The project was funded primarily through pledges totaling $2.1 million from six families, supplemented by additional donations and revenue from various fundraising events and efforts that began in 2022.
Father McGivney Catholic's administration expressed gratitude to benefactors and donors for their financial support, stating, “Your faith in our mission and your investment in our future have created a space that will serve our community for generations.”
Pfund Construction and Hurford Architects were recognized at the blessing and dedication for their partnership and craftsmanship in bringing the project to fruition.
The blessing ceremony was followed by an open house attended by members of the Griffin community. Chick-fil-A provided refreshments for those in attendance.
School officials view McGivney Commons as a significant enhancement to the campus environment, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to community and faith.
