
PIASA — The Piasa Birds secured first place at the 2025 Southwestern Christmas Classic boys basketball tournament with an undefeated 3-0 record after decisive victories over Dupo, Valmeyer, and Mt. Olive on December 26 and 27, 2025.

The tournament, held over two days, featured competitive matchups among Southwestern, Dupo, Valmeyer, and Mt. Olive. On the opening day, December 26, Piasa dominated Dupo 59-34 and followed with a commanding 72-39 win against Valmeyer. Key contributors in these games included Cason Robinson, who scored 18 points against Valmeyer, and Trenton Brackett, who added 17 points. Against Dupo, Brackett led with 13 points, while Connor Wood and Robinson contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The second day of the tournament saw Piasa maintain its momentum with a 53-18 victory over Mt. Olive. Brackett again led the scoring with 12 points, supported by Wood and Carter Watson, each adding 10 points. In a closely contested game, Dupo edged Valmeyer 57-54.
Final standings reflected Piasa’s dominance with a perfect 3-0 record.
The Southwestern Christmas Classic provided a platform for these teams to showcase their talent during the holiday season, with Piasa emerging as the tournament champion.
Southwestern now stands 6-8 overall and hosts Bunker Hill on Jan. 6, 2025.
