BOYS BASKETBALL
O'FALLON 55. PATTONVILLE 40: In the opening game of the 41st Collinsville Prairie Farms Holiday Classic, O'Fallon broke out to a 31-20 halftime lead to win the game over Pattonville of Maryland Heights, Mo.
Jayden Dancy led the Panthers with 14 points, while Ben Akoro added 13 points, and Sutton Massey came up with 11 points.
O'Fallon is now 3-9, while the Pirates go to 3-2.
BELLEVILLE EAST 56, CARBONDALE 38: In another first-round game at Collinsville, Belleville East led all the way, holding a 24-16 advantage at the half in going on to the win over Carbondale.
Jalen Coleman led the Lancers with 13 points, while Troy Alexander added 12 points, and Kameron Eutsey scored 11 points.
East is now 7-3, while the Terriers go to 5-7.
TRIAD 51, QUINCY 42: Quincy and Triad were tied after the first quarter 12-12, but the Knights outscored the Blue Devils the rest of the way 39-30 to take the first round game at Collinsville.
Nolan Keller and Tyler Thompson led Triad with 13 points each, while Mac Musgrave hit for 12 points.
The Knights are now 7-4, while Quincy is now 2-4.
BREESE MATER DEI CATHOLIC 66, FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 24: Mater Dei built a 28-17 halftime lead, then outscored McGivney in the second half 38-7 to take the Group C game at the Mater Dei gym.
Chase Jansen led the Griffins with 12 points, while both Hayden Apotheker and Henry Willenborg had three points each.
The Knights are now 6-7, while McGivney is now 9-5.
COLUMBIA 50, CIVIC MEMORIAL 31: In the opening game of the Columbia-Freeburg Holiday Tournament, the co-hosts led CM 29-16, going on to the win.
Kyle Chubb and Brody Landgraf both led Columbia with 15 points each, while Eddie Smajic had 14 points.
CM is now 6-6.
COLUMBIA 52, FREEBURG 48: In a close game throughout, the Eagles led Freeburg at halftime 30-26, then held off the Midgets to take their second game of the day.
Landgraf led Columbia with 22 points, while Chubb came up with 13 points.
The Eagles are now 8-2, while Freeburg goes to 2-9.
ROXANA 55, CHESTER 33: In a first-round game at the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic in Pinckneyville, Roxana led at halftime 27-12, then went on to win over Chester.
Aiden Stemm led the Shells with 21 points, while Sean Maberry came up with 13 points, and Cohen Dugan added 11 points.
Roxana is now 10-2, while the Yellowjackets go to 3-7.
In other games played on Saturday, Collinsville defeated Belleville Althoff Catholic 63-34, Lincoln won over Granite City 46-37, New Athens won over Marissa-Coulterville 79-46, Red Bud won over Sesser-Valier 79-59, Highland won over Metro-East Lutheran 50-43, then Metro-East lost to Trenton Wesclin 78-53 at the Breese Mater Dei Catholic Christmas Classic, also at Mater Dei, Breese Central got past Mascoutah 52-47, St. Charles, Mo., West won over Waterloo Gibault Catholic 55-34, then the Hawks lost to Nashville 68-36, Orchard Farm, Mo. nipped Mater Dei 47-43, at the Carlinville Holiday Tournament, Hardin Calhoun won over the host Cavaliers 60-42, Staunton won over Litchfield 69-31, Hillsboro won over East Alton-Wood RIver 56-25, Bunker Hill took a 70-32 win over Gillespie, at the Columbia-Freeburg Tournament, the co-host Midgets fell to Waterloo 66-58, Marquette Catholic split a pair of games, losing to Rockwood Seckmann of Fenton, Mo. 51-48. then bounced back to win over Riverview Gardens of north St. Louis County 78-50, at the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic in Pinckneyville, Jersey won over Carlyle 44-37, while Salem nipped Okawville 42-40, Carrollton won over White Hall North Greene 56-38 and Auburn won over Greenfield Northwestern 51-40.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
EDWARDSVILLE 65, VISITATION ACADEMY CATHOLIC 32: In the 51st Visitation Christmas Tournament, Edwardsville went out to a 46-20 halftime lead in going on to defeat the host Vivettes.
Mia Semeth led the Tigers with 15 points, while Kennedy Gieseking had 13 points, Ella Hawkes had 12 points, and Journey Anderson hit for 10 points.
Edwardsville is now 5-7, while Viz goes to 1-3.
JOHN BURROUGHS 57, HIGHLAND 46: In the consolation semifinals at Viz, John Burroughs, of Ladue, Mo., took a win over Highland to go to the consolation bracket final.
Jordan Bircher led the Bulldogs with 19 points, while Mady Holcmann added 15 points.
The Bombers are now 5-2, while Highland goes to 10-8.
O'FALLON 48, OKAWVILLE 34: In the fifth-place semifinals at Mascoutah, O'Fallon advanced with a win over Okawville.
Josie Christopher led the Panthers with 20 points, while Kayla Kalmer added nine points.
O'Fallon is now 8-5, while the Rockets go to 9-6.
COLLINSVILLE 43, CLAYTON 24: In the consolation semifinals of the Don Mauer Holiday Invitational at Mary Institute-Country Day School in Ladue, Mo. Collinsville led Clayton, Mo. at the half 26-13, going on to the bracket final.
Karley Call led the Kahoks with 13 points, while Karly VanDyke added 11 points.
Collinsville is now 3-10, with the Greyhounds falling to 4-5.
FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 66, JOHNSTON CITY 22: In the Centralia Christ Our Rock Winterfest tournament, McGivney swept their group stage games, leading Johnston City at the half 44-6 in going on to the win.
Layla Tobin led the Griffins with 14 points, while Alexa Jones had 12 points.
McGivney is now 11-3, while the Indians go to 5-9.
COLUMBIA 47, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 38: In the semifinals of the Waterloo Holiday Tournament, Marquette led Columbia at halftime 20-13, but the Eagles outscored the Explorers in the second half 34-18 to advance to the final.
Addison Dewilde led Columbia with 14 points, while both Riley Bahr and Ava Mathews hit for 11 points apiece. Marquette was led by Allie Weiner's 15 points, while Delaney Ortman added 10 points.
The Eagles are now 9-5. while the Explorers go to 8-4.
ROXANA 40, RED BUD 38: In the second semifinal at Waterloo, Red Bud led Roxana at halftime 22-20, but the Shells came back to nip the Musketeers to advance to the final on Monday.
Daisy Daugherty led Roxana with 21 points, while Ava Cherry added seven points.
The Shells are now 7-6, while the Musketeers go to 6-9.
In other games played on Saturday, Belleville East lost their first game of the season in the Viz semifinals to Principia of west St. Louis County 71-64, at the Mascoutah Holiday Classic, Belleville West won over East St. Louis 46-32, in the semifinals at Mascoutah, Breese Central won over Alton 49-37, while Nashville won over Breese Mater Dei Catholic 64-48, in the fifth place semifinals, Freeburg defeated University City, Mo. 50-43, in another game at Carlinville, East Alton-Wood River won over Madison 65-26, in the Waterloo Holiday Tournament, Waterloo Gibault Catholic won over Cahokia 62-11 in the consolation semifinals, while Marissa-Coulterville won over the host Bulldogs 46-35, and Nokomis won over Hardin Calhoun 44-28.
