WEST ALTON - Sallie Mottley and her children are seeking community support following the sudden death of her husband, Ronald Mottley, who was found deceased after a car accident in West Alton, Mo., on Missouri Highway 367 on Dec. 26, 2025.
The accident occurred when their family vehicle went off the road, flipped upside down, and landed in a line of trees. Authorities believe Ronald may have suffered a massive heart attack, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. Fortunately, no one else was injured.
Ronald Mottley’s death marks the second tragedy for the family, as Sallie lost her children’s father nine years earlier on Dec. 10, 2016. The loss has left a significant emotional and financial void for Sallie and her children.
Jamie Black, Sallie’s sister, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to cover funeral expenses, pay off the family’s auto loan, and help purchase a replacement vehicle and essentials such as a heater.
“It is humbling because I feel it is important to do what you can to help your family, but sometimes the cost is beyond your capabilities,” Black said in the campaign description.
The fundraiser has received support from nine donors so far, with contributions aimed at helping Sallie manage both the emotional and financial challenges she now faces.
Donations and prayers are being accepted to assist the family during this difficult time.
