On Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at the Madison County Fireman’s Hall in Collinsville, hundreds of people will come together for a game-themed trivia night to support the nonprofit animal rescue. Hope Animal Rescues saves dogs on the day they are to be euthanized. Profits from the trivia night will go toward the dogs’ vet care and spay and neuter bills.
“The money that we raise during trivia goes to help us pay for vetting of the dogs we rescue in 2026,” said Jackie Spiker with Hope. “It’s very mission-driven, but it is a lot of fun, and it’s a great social outlet for people that are looking for like-minded people that care about animals and want to be a part of the animal-loving community.”
Doors open at 6 p.m. on Jan. 17 and trivia begins at 7 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks and food. Soda, coffee and draft beer will be provided until the seventh round, and you can also purchase from the cash bar.
Tickets cost $20 for single players or $200 for a team of six to ten players. The first, second and third place teams will receive trophies, while the team in last place will win a box of Ding Dongs.
The evening is game-themed, and there will be prizes for the best costumes and table decorations. Every other trivia round is focused around games, and the remaining rounds are general knowledge questions.
There will also be a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. The event promises to be a lot of fun. This is Hope’s 19th year hosting the trivia night, and the money they raise — hopefully between $20–25,000 — will keep the shelter operational through 2026.
You can purchase tickets online or email admin@hoperescues.com for more information or to reserve your spot. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Hope Animal Rescues saves approximately 109 dogs every year. When a dog comes to them, the dog receives necessary vaccines, heartworm testing, a microchip, and is spayed or neutered. Donations allow Hope to afford this vet care. They will make sure a dog is healthy and socialized before it is adopted.
“We have a specific mission. Our mission is to save dogs the day they’re to be euthanized at animal control facilities,” Spiker explained. “I like to think there is a human for every dog, so if we can find the human for that dog, then everybody gets to go home.”
A grant pays for five people to staff Hope during the week, but Hope is always looking for volunteers to take care of the dogs during the weekend. Spiker hopes many people come out to the trivia night on Jan. 17 so they can continue their work to rescue dogs across the Riverbend region.
“You can’t spend five minutes with [the dogs] and not feel for them,” she added. “Thank you everybody for supporting Hope Animal Rescues and thanks for adopting.”
