PAWNEE 37, CARLINVILLE 33: In a Thursday evening game at Pawnee, the hosts 22-9 at halftime, with Carlinville rallying in the third quarter to trail only 26-21 after three, but the Indians held off the Cavaliers in the fourth quarter to take the win.

Sawyer Smith led Carlinville with 17 points, while Tristan Thompson had nine points.

Pawnee is now 6-5, while the Cavies go to 9-4.

GRIGGSVILLE-PERRY 69, WHITE HALL NORTH GREENE 6 1: Visiting North Greene led at the break 27-19, but Griggsville-Perry outscored the Spartans in the second half 50-34 to take the come-from-behind win.

Luke Farris had a big game for North Greene with 29 points, while both Evan Scott and Kendan Stepp hit for eight points each.

The Tornadoes are now 7-6, while the Spartans slip to 4-9.

In two other games played on Thursday, St. Mary's South Side Catholic of St. Louis won at Breese Mater Dei Catholic 69-61, and Highland won at Waterloo 54-38.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

STAUNTON 55, CARLINVILLE 38: In a South Central Conference tilt at the Carlinville Big House, Staunton went out to a 29-21 halftime lead and led the entire way in defeating Carlinville.

Lydia Larosa led the Bulldogs with 25 points, while Kaydn Legendre had 12 points, and Kailiana Buehler scored 10 points. Ruthie Reels led the Cavaliers with 12 points, while Sylvee Gibbs added six points.

Staunton is now 12-6, with Carlinville going to 7-11.

HIGHLAND 29, WATERLOO 28: In a tight defensive battle in the Mississippi Valley Conference at Waterloo's gym, Highland trailed at the half 19-18, but came back to outscore the hosts 11-9 in the second half to take the win.

Jordan Bircher led Highland with 10 points, while Ari Nanney scored six points.

Highland is now 11-8, while Waterloo is now 6-12.

BREESE CENTRAL 76, EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER 22: Central was never headed in the game, leading at halftime 44-12, and went on to the Cahokia Conference Mississippi Division win at EAWR Memorial Gym.

Kaylynn Buttry led the Oilers with 14 points, while Ryann Adams scored the other eight points.

The Cougars are now 14-2, while EAWR goes to 5-14.

SALEM 47, ROXANA 27: In another Mississippi Division game, Salem went ahead at the interval 22-16, and outscored visiting Roxana in the second half 25-11 to gain the win.

Daisy Daugherty led the Shells with nine points, while Kylee Slayden added six points.

The Wildcats are now 11-7, while Roxana goes to 7-9.

GRANITE CITY 30, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 23: In another defensive game at Marquette Family Arena, Granite led at the break 15-7, shutting out Marquette in the second quarter 9-0, and went on to win on the road.

Jailynn Rae Woods led the Warriors with 10 points, while Tyhlee Simms had eight points. Laila Davis led the Explorers with 11 points, while Allie Weiner added seven points.

Granite City is now 12-4, while Marquette falls to 10-6.

RED BUD 63, BELLEVILLE ALTHOFF CATHOLIC 41: Red Bud led at the half 29-17, then ran away in the second half to take the home win over Althoff.

Gabby Dalke had 22 points for the Crusaders, while Reece Distler added 14 points.

The Musketeers are now 7-11, while Althoff goes to 5-8.

In other games played on Thursday, Alton won over Belleville West 71-22, Waterloo Gibault Catholic topped Metro-East Lutheran 66-23, Okawville nipped Carlyle 57-54, Freeburg won over Columbia 53-43, Belleville East won over East St. Louis 72-7, Edwardsville won at home over Collinsville 50-16, and in games played on Wednesday, Carrollton defeated Jersey 45-29, Liberty took a 57-49 win over Hardin Calhoun, and Pawnee defeated White Hall North Greene 48-20.
