
ALTON - The Alton Police Department said at 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, officers responded to a bar in Downtown Alton for a report of people fighting inside a private party at an establishment.

Alton Police said the investigation revealed that a physical altercation broke out during a private party at Mac's Timeout, among known individuals.
Following a thorough investigation, the following individuals were charged on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, by the Madison County State's Attorney Tom Haine’s office: Lance R. Gardner, 36, of Alton – two (2) counts of Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony), Steven J. Ragusa, 39, of East Alton – one (1) count of Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony)
Alton Police Chief Jarrett Ford said, "Our officers and detectives worked diligently to gather the evidence necessary to hold those responsible accountable. We will not tolerate this type of violent behavior in our community, and we are committed to ensuring that our downtown district remains safe for all patrons and business owners."
