Irving, a senior, joined the high school’s marching, concert and pep bands as a freshman. He is a major character in the school’s band program, and he plays guitar, drums and the tuba. He enjoys composing his own songs.
He was recently inducted into the National Honor Society, which requires high grades and many hours of community service. Irving has accumulated these community service hours as a member of the Boy Scouts. He earned his Eagle Scout rank in May 2025 after completing a service project wherein he installed a bike rack and public tool stand at Rinderer Park.
He works at a local business during the school year and helps with the Kids in Christ latchkey program during the summers. In his limited free time, Irving enjoys writing short stories, watching “Star Wars,” listening to rock music and building Legos.
He knows exactly what he plans to do after graduation, and his teachers and loved ones can’t wait to see him succeed.
“I plan to attend Illinois State University to become a U.S. history and government teacher at the high school level,” he shared, adding, “The HHS concert bands have community performances on March 12th and April 28th of this year at the HHS gym. Any and all support would be appreciated, as we put a lot of hard work into giving a great performance!”
Congratulations to Jackson for this recognition by Highland High School and Platinum Transportation!
