

SPRINGFIELD, IL. - The Civic Memorial High School girls cheerleading team claimed second place at the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA) 2A Varsity State competition held this past weekend in Springfield. The Eagles finished just behind Highland and ahead of Jacksonville in the final standings.
The girls are Tom Lane State Farm Insurance Female Athletes of the Month for the Eagles.

CM's Makenna Wehmeier was named All-State at the cheer competition.
The squad’s strong performance at the state event reflects the program’s continued excellence, according to cheer squad organizers. “As we say, Hard Work-Pays Off, and here is the proof! CMHS Cheer placed second at ICCA State in Springfield! We are super proud of this accomplishment!” they said.
Civic Memorial’s team is led by head coach Kyleigh Heflin.
Other top finishers in the 2A competition included Waterloo in fourth place, Triad fifth, Marion sixth, Morton seventh, Mt. Vernon eighth, and Fenwick and Joliet Catholic Academy rounding out ninth and tenth place respectively.
