NAGBC meets once a month at various businesses across the Riverbend. Entrepreneurs, business owners and community leaders are invited to join the council to connect with like-minded individuals. Jabusch has led the council for years and works hard to ensure everyone has the support they need to succeed.
“Business is not easy, and we try to help in any way that we can in that regard,” he said. “We think, dollar-wise, that we are the best value in town, and we hope to keep it that way.”
NAGBC is a nonprofit volunteer-based organization. Despite the organization’s name, Jabusch emphasized that they welcome people from across the area.
“We consider ourselves to be regionally-focused in terms of, we’re willing to accept members from anywhere as long as they feel it’s going to benefit them and they’re going to get something out of it,” he explained.
At every meeting, a community member shares information about their organization with the group. NAGBC has recently focused on spotlighting council members’ businesses, which Jabusch believes allows attendees “to understand the community better, understand the people better.” Don Ehrman with Riverbend Investment Management will speak at their upcoming February meeting.
Jabusch emphasized that the meetings are open to everyone, and people can invite prospective members to attend. He noted that participation goes a long way in the council’s success. People are asked to attend meetings as often as they can to get the most out of the organization.
“We like for them to come to a meeting just to get an idea of who they’re going to relate to in terms of like other businesses,” Jabusch said of prospective members. “That’s really where they get their information, in talking to other people, to socialize, to talk business, to talk what’s going on in the community and in the area. We feel that this can give them the perspective of whether it’s something that they might or might not like.”
As the community changes and the NAGBC grows, Jabusch hopes they can continue to support businesses and community members. He is proud of the work they do and eager to continue boosting the Riverbend.
He urges anyone who is interested in joining NAGBC to visit their official website at NAGBC.com. The entire community is invited to participate.
“That’s what makes a great organization: participation. Ideas are the secondary contributor to an organization and its growth,” Jabusch added. “I think we’ve benefitted from those ideas that have been created from within the organization to try to address changing times, to try to put more focus upon the needs of our members in terms of their businesses. Whether we’re doing that or not, I’m not sure, but I hope that we are.”
