The Roxana senior reached a major milestone on the mat, breaking the 163-career-win mark to become the program’s all-time wins leader with 164, a testament to years of hard work, consistency, and dedication to the sport.
The record was held by Tommy Hill, who reached it in 2006, and Tol Calvin, who reached it in 2005.
Thies secured the record-breaking victory convincingly, controlling the match from the opening whistle and finishing with authority. He pinned Jersey's Cameron Judkins at the 1:03 mark in the first period in the 175-pound match.
As the referee raised his hand, teammates and coaches celebrated the moment that had been building throughout his high school career.

“This means a lot to me,” Thies said. “I’ve put a lot of time into this sport, and to do it with my teammates and coaches supporting me makes it even more special.”
Thies is a Midwest Members Credit Union Male Athlete of the Month for the Shells.
Thies’ journey to the record has been marked by steady improvement each season. Known for his relentless pace and technical skill, he has been a dependable anchor in the Roxana lineup, often setting the tone for the Shells with his intensity and work ethic.
"It means a lot that he broke my record. I've seen this kid grow up, and it means a lot to the program, and it shows where we are headed as a program," Roxana coach Tommy Hill said.
Beyond the numbers, Thies has been a leader for younger wrestlers in the program, helping build a culture of accountability and toughness that has defined Roxana wrestling in recent years.
"After I finish practice, I try to go down to the little kids' room and help them practice. I think the kids like to see me a lot, know who I am because I've been around their older siblings," Thies said.
With the season still ongoing, Thies has the opportunity to continue adding to his historic total, but the milestone win already secures his place among the greats in Roxana wrestling history.
“This is something I’ll always be proud of,” Thies said. “But we’re not done yet. I want to get a state championship, so my name can hang from a banner in this gym," Thies said.
Thies will wrestle in college at Maryville University.
