COLLINSVILLE - Collinsville Police Department’s K9 Rocky has been named the department’s December Officer of the Month for his outstanding work in multiple critical incidents.
During December, Rocky responded to a missing person call and successfully tracked the individual for over a mile through snowy conditions. On Christmas Day, despite it being his day off, Rocky assisted in a search covering more than eight acres to locate evidence.

The most significant event came when Rocky was deployed to assist in the investigation of the shooting of Granite City Officer Tyler Timmons. Rocky spent several hours tracking the suspect and locating multiple pieces of evidence.
Rocky’s handler, Officer Trent Ross, was also recognized for his essential role in the K9’s success. The department noted that Ross’s guidance is crucial, as Rocky’s physical limitations prevent him from performing certain tasks, such as driving a squad car.
The Collinsville Police Department praised Rocky’s contributions, highlighting his effectiveness and dedication to the Metro East community.
