SULLIVAN, Mo. — A helicopter carrying four people crashed into powerlines and plunged into the Meramec River near Meramec State Park Thursday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2026, officials said.
The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2026, while a group of state park team members and the pilot were conducting an ecological survey of the area, according to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

All four occupants — the pilot and three passengers — were rescued from the river with minor injuries, the Missouri DNR reported. Rescue swimmers and emergency medical crews responded promptly to the scene, assisting with the recovery efforts.
The individuals were transported to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan for medical care. No fatalities were reported.
The Sullivan Fire Protection District, Missouri DNR, and Missouri State Highway Patrol all took part in the rescue and response operations.
