Patrick Neistat, 24, pleaded guilty in October to one count of receipt of child pornography. The investigation began on Sept. 8, 2022, after St. Louis County Police detectives received an urgent Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating that a user of the Skout social media platform had uploaded images depicting the sexual abuse of a minor. Detectives traced the account to Neistat’s home in Florissant, Mo.
Neistat initially denied owning a cellular phone, but investigators seized one and found 123 images and four videos of child pornography. A second phone contained 12 images of child sexual abuse material, sexually explicit conversations, and explicit photos sent to Neistat by a 12-year-old girl and an apparent 14-year-old girl, according to his plea agreement.
The plea agreement also detailed that Neistat possessed 187 images and 18 videos classified as “age difficult” pornography, as well as 634 computer-generated images depicting children in sexual acts. Investigators found videos of Neistat himself touching a 5-year-old child.
The FBI and St. Louis County Police Department conducted the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Hayes prosecuting the case. Neistat was sentenced to 170 months in prison.
This prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program coordinates federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute offenders while identifying and rescuing victims.
