Edwardsville Wins Six Weight Classes, Sends 12 To Sectional, Alton Qualifies Two, Collinsville, O'Fallon One Each

NORMAL - Edwardsville will send 12 of its wrestlers to the Class 3A sectional at home, including six championship winners. At the same time, Alton qualified two wrestlers, who both won their weight classes. Both Collinsville and OFallon had one wrestler advance to the sectional each as the Tigers won the IHSA Class 3A boys wrestling regional tournament Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31, 2026, at Normal Community High School.

Edwardsville won the team title, qualifying for the team sectional, with 242.5
points, with the host Ironmen coming in second with 165 points, Belleville East
finished third with 181.5 points, Quincy placed fourth with 140 points, the
Redbirds and Kahoks tied for fifth with 60 points each, Belleville West was
seventh with 50 points, and O'Fallon came in eighth with 49 points.

Alton saw Brayden Drew win the title at 165 pounds, winning over Carter Mayne
of Normal Community by fall at 3:18, and Jacob Sutphin win the championship
at 138 pounds, taking a 10-4 win over Austin Ragan of Quincy to win the title.
Belleville East's Corbin Zeisset finished third at 132 pounds, winning his final
bout over Sean Monroe of Edwardsville, 5-3 to qualify, while Jackson Schadegg
won the title at 113 pounds, winning the final over Chace Matheny of the Tigers
13-6.

Jason Halton placed third at 215 pounds, qualifying for the sectional with a
6-4 win over Michael Stevenson of Collinsville, with Jonathan Rulo winning the
crown at 285 pounds, winning by technical superiority over Mason Caraway of
Normal Community 21-3 at 3:41, Killian Rauch won the 190-pound
championship over Simon Schulte of Edwardsville, 4-0, Michael Gibson finished
third at 144 pounds, winning his final bout over Jeremiah Barry of O'Fallon by
fall at 42 seconds, and Myles Greenfield won the title at 175 pounds, defeating
George Ostrom of Edwardsville 11-8.

Cooper Boron will be the Maroons' only representative at the sectional, finishing
third at 126 pounds, winning over Logan Bodenbender of O'Fallon by fall at
1:42, while the Kahoks will have Anthony Brown going at 157 pounds, as he
won the title over Victor Reyes of Normal Community, 8-7, and Jordan Thigpen
wrestling at 126 pounds, finishing second in the class, losing to Bryson Nuttall of
Edwardsville by technical superiority 20-0 at 4:23.

The Tigers saw Braylon Hill-Lomax finish third at 285 pounds, winning over King
Johnson of Quincy 10-0 to qualify, with Nuttall winning at 126 pounds, Matheny
finishing second at 113 pounds, Ostrom finishing second at 175 pounds, Ian
Trauernicht finished second at 150 pounds, losing the final to Brody Baker of
Quincy by technical superiority 15-0 at 1:40, Kenneth Jamison finished third at
165 pounds, pinning Hayden Kattenbraker of Belleville East at 49 seconds to
advance to the sectional.

Michael McNamara won the title at 106 pounds, winning over Jackson Soney of Normal Community 6-0, Roman Janek won the crown at 215 pounds with a pin of Amarli Ollie of Normal Community at 1:35. Ryan Richie won at 144 pounds, taking the final over Rennie Lilo of Quincy by medical forfeit. Schulte finished second at 190 pounds.

Timothy Swain won the 120-pound division with a 6-3 win over Mason Soney of Normal Community, and Xander Humphrey finished third at 138 pounds, advancing to the sectional with a 13-9 win over Aaron Brown of the Lancers.

The Panthers' lone wrestler at the sectional will be Ahmad Al-Janabi, who
finished third at 150 pounds, winning his final bout over Austin Cheisi of Normal
Community 9-4.

The sectional will take place Feb. 13 at Lucco-Jackson Gym in Edwardsville,
with the state finals set for Feb. 19-21 at State Farm Center at the University of
Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.
