

BETHALTO - Host Civic Memorial advanced eight wrestlers to the sectional tournament in two weeks, while Granite City, Jersey, and Triad moved four wrestlers each as Chatham Glenwood won the IHSA Class 2A boys wrestling regional tournament Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31, 2026, at the CM gym.

The Titans won the tournament and advanced to the team sectional with 246.5 points, with the Eagles finishing second at 188 points, the Warriors placed third at 111.5 points, Jacksonville was fourth with 109 points, the Knights came in fifth with 103 points, the Panthers finished sixth at 85 points. Springfield High was seventh with 80 points, Springfield Southeast came in eighth at 49.5 points, and Highland placed ninth with five points.
For the Eagles, Avery Jamie won the 138-pound division with a 12-2 decision over Brody Smith of Triad, while Brody Johnson finished third at 170 pounds, qualifying for the sectional with a 7-0 win over Parker Allison of Granite City. Cody Weidner placed second at 106 pounds, losing the final to Cooper Clarke of Glenwood 11-3, while Greg Harkey won the 144-pound title, defeating Omar Mendez of the Warriors 7-6. Hudson Davis was second in the 285-pound division, losing the final to Cody Moss of Glenwood 9-0, while James Wojciekwicz won the 165-pound division with a 15-4 win over Julian Rammelkamp of the Titans. Kevahn Flanigan took the 215-pound title with a 7-4 win over Zacharian Fry of Springfield Southeast, Knox Verbais won the 150-pound title 3-0 over Wesley Ortiz of Jacksonville, and Tristan Ward placed third at 175 pounds, qualifying for the sectional with a 10-2 win over Cohen Albatt of Triad.
Eli Miller of Granite finished second at 190 pounds to advance to the sectional, losing the final to Chris Hull of Southeast 8-6, while Jace Brown finished second at 126 pounds, falling to Dashawn Armstrong by fall at 3:46, Allison finished second at 170 pounds to advance to the sectional, and Raymond Morales ended up third at 285 pounds, pinning Kevin Gaines of Southeast at 5:35 to advance to the sectional.


Highland failed to advance any of its wrestlers to the sectional, while Bo Allison of the Panthers finished third at 113 pounds, qualifying for the sectional with a 1-0 win over Lucas Cooley of Granite, while Hunter Hodge placed second at 120 pounds, losing the final to Jaxon Ferguson of Glenwood by fall at 1:27, Maddox Williams placed third at 106 pounds, winning the berth in the sectional with a pinfall over Zander Johnson of the Warriors at 3:11, and Nicholas Hartley won the 157 pound championship by technical superiority over Bryce Bryant of Springfield 21-5 at 5:39.
The Knights advanced Smith at 138 pounds, while Gavin Woolverton finished third at 157 pounds, winning his final match over Pierce Helm of the Titans by fall at 5:08, Glen Henry finished third at 144 pounds, taking the sectional berth with a 9-2 win over Braden Monahan of Glenwood, and Will Kelly won the title at 132 pounds, pinning Jordan Kholen of Jacksonville at 5:07.
The sectional is set for Feb. 13 at Granite City Memorial Gym, with the state finals scheduled for State Farm Center at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana on Feb. 19-21.
