Fire and Police Departments Honor Life Of Firefighter Johnathon Klee

Klee served Madison and Long Lake fire departments with dedication.

Firefighter Johnathon Daniel Klee.GRANITE CITY - Johnathon Daniel Klee, of Granite City, a firefighter who served the communities of Madison and Long Lake, died early Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026. He was 29. Klee began his firefighting career in 2013 with the Madison Fire Department, where he served for a decade before joining the Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department in 2023.

The Long Lake Fire Department announced that he served his community with dignity and respect. They asked the public to keep his family and friends in their thoughts and prayers.

The Hollywood Heights Fire Department also expressed condolences, urging support for Klee’s family and the Madison Fire Department during this difficult time.

The Granite City Fire and Police Department both extended sympathies to Klee’s family and friends, highlighting his commitment to public service.

Outside of firefighting, Klee worked as a service representative for Tiger Plumbing and volunteered as a counselor with the YMCA summer camp program. He was devoted to his fiancée, Brooke A. Deckard of Granite City, and his two children, Warren James and Olivia Grace Klee.

Visitation to celebrate Klee’s life will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City.

Fellow firefighters will have a walk-through at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2026.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at the same chapel, with Chaplain Jim Chism officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Backstoppers, Inc. or Breakthrough T1D, supporting research for juvenile diabetes.
