Ed, Barb and Cathie, representatives with New Frontiers, stopped by “Our Daily Show!” with CJ Nasello to talk about their experience with the store and how they have seen it grow over the past several decades.

Located at 101 W. 3rd in Alton, New Frontiers is a full line furniture store that has an amazing history over the past 48 years. Owner Ed Benz said it feels good to celebrate this milestone and is proud of how the business has grown over the decades.

When New Frontiers started in 1978, it was an unfinished wood furniture store. The store still specializes in solid wood goods but has broadened their offerings to finished pieces and soft goods such as sofas and recliners with customizable options.

Ed added that he is thankful for both the new customers and the generational customers that come into the store. “It’s pretty rewarding when you talk to people that have bought furniture here years and years ago. We have a loyal customer base, and our anniversary sale is our way of thanking the community for their support.”

When we moved downtown, we thought we’d never be able to fill this building. It was so big but now we’re jam packed…we opened the lower level and it’s jam packed!” Benz reflected.

In addition to the store on W. 3rd, New Frontiers also manufactures residential greenhouses on Pearl Street in Alton that have grown in popularity since they began showcasing them at Home & Garden shows throughout the country in 2008.

While the business has seen a lot of changes over the past 48 years, the priorities remain the same. Benz and his staff continue to push for excellent customer service, great value and quality products with a hometown feel. “We have a small team but it’s a close team and they’re all really great! I couldn’t have done it without them!”
