ALTON – A local woman with a criminal past faces new charges after allegedly breaking into an Alton home and illegally using another victim’s credit or debit card.
Mariah C. Moore, 28, of Alton, was charged in two felony cases filed on Jan. 28, 2026.
Moore was charged in the first case with a Class 2 felony count of burglary. On Jan. 26, 2026, she allegedly knowingly entered a residence on Oakwood Avenue in Alton with the intent to commit a theft.
This marks the latest case of burglary against Moore, who was previously charged with burglarizing a garage and stealing a chainsaw last October and breaking into a building in Alton the month prior. Moore was also previously charged with possession of a stolen moped on July 3, 2025 after being convicted in 2023 of offenses related to motor vehicles, also in Madison County.
In the second most recent case against Moore, she faces a Class 4 felony count of unlawful use of a credit or debit card. She is accused of knowingly using another individual’s credit or debit card without their consent on Dec. 16, 2025 “for the purpose of obtaining Illinois lottery tickets,” according to charging documents.
The Alton Police Department presented both of the latest cases against Moore, who was granted pretrial release from custody.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
