“My fiancé William Palmer was murdered on February 1st," Jones said. "He was trying to help somebody, and in the process, the girl tried stealing his truck and shot him,” Jones wrote on a GoFundMe page titled “Support for William Palmer’s Family After Tragedy.”

Jones said the couple has three children: “We have a 6-year-old son, an 18-year-old daughter, and a 21-year-old son.” She said Palmer “was the one that took care of everything financially” and that she is “wanting to raise money to help support the household and take care of funeral arrangements.”

Palmer was collecting scrap metal Saturday night, Jan. 31, 2026, when he discovered Rivoire, Jones said.

Jones described Palmer as “the nicest, big-hearted, helpful, and all-around great person, loving father, great friend, just a wonderful person,” adding, “Even if you can't donate, if you could share, it would be awesome.”

Rivoire faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, armed criminal action, and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. She remains in jail without bond.
