
EAST ST. LOUIS — Paul Laurence Dunbar Elementary School in the East St. Louis School District 189 recently recognized counselor Sydnie Blackmon-Harris, citing her daily support of students and her role as a trusted adult for many on campus.

The school said it was celebrating Blackmon-Harris for being “driven, compassionate, dedicated, and truly student-centered,” and for showing a “love for our students” through her interactions with students. Blackmon-Harris is a "Difference Maker" in her community.
According to the school, many students consider Blackmon-Harris their trusted adult because of her willingness to listen and provide emotional support “whenever it’s needed.” The school said her commitment helps ensure students feel “safe, supported, and secure.”
“Please join the entire Dunbar Family as we honor and celebrate Mrs. Sydnie Blackmon-Harris,” the school said, adding, “We are truly grateful to have her at the Home of the Eagles.”
