The arena, in East Alton, said it was notified at 10:45 p.m. Monday about the reported symptoms and began checking conditions inside the building. Staff “walked around immediately with a Co alarm,” but “it did not go off at all,” the statement said.
In an update posted at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, the arena said air quality testing conducted that morning found “a slightly raised Co reading,” though it was “not high enough to set off our alarms.” The arena stated that it purchased new alarms on Tuesday morning, but “they were still not going off.”
The arena said the East Alton Fire Department was brought in “to ensure we were doing things right.”
“Fast forward, we closed the rink to ensure the safety of anyone until we find the source of why it was raised,” the statement said. “We have an idea, but we will not let anyone in the building until we know it is 100 percent safe.”
The arena said it would provide updates for those with games or practices scheduled Tuesday night.
“Safety of our users is our number one priority,” the statement said.
