He is Byron, Carlson, Petri & Kalb Male Athlete of the Month for Father McGivney Catholic High School.
In a postgame interview that followed the loss to Marquette Catholic, Barone felt the Griffins were confident going into the game against the Explorers, but things didn't go well from the opening tap.
"We were confident coming in," Barone said. "I just think it just wasn't our night, and we'll get back into the lab and be ready to go Tuesday."
Barone said there are still several goals for Father McGivney's boys to accomplish this season.
"We want to finish the season strong," he said. "We have a chance to do something special, so we're going to do that."
Barone and the Griffins also feel confident about the upcoming IHSA playoffs as well.
"I like it," Barone said. "We're excited and confident to get some wins rolling into the playoffs, and see where this thing takes us."
"Winning is my number one goal, and whatever I can do to get the team to win is what I'll do for the team," Barone said.
