JERSEYVILLE — Jude Jones, a senior multi-sport athlete at Jersey Community Unit School District No. 100, has committed to Greenville University to continue his education and play baseball and join the Panthers baseball program, according to a district announcement.
Jones is a Sparklight Male Athlete of the Month.
“Committed! We’re excited to announce that Jude Jones has committed to Greenville University to continue his education and join the Panthers Baseball program. Congratulations, Jude!” the district said in an announcement.
Jones also plays football, where he is a tight end and free safety, and he is a forward on the Jersey Boys basketball team.
Matt Murphy, the Jersey boys basketball coach, said Jones is a strong player for the Panthers varsity.
"He really bought into his role this off-season and has been doing it at a high level for us. He gives us a lot of versatility on defense and different ways we can guard opponents."
The Jersey baseball coaching staff said Jones was one of the team’s leading hitters last season and is expected to be one of the Panthers' best players in the 2026 campaign, which gets underway in March.
